Small Business Website Design Small Business & Personal Event Marketing

Hello!

My name is Amy Largent, and you've found your way to my personal digital portfolio, featuring some (not hearly all!) of my projects over the past 10+ years. I got my start in small business website design nearly 20 years ago and have since incorporated all things digital marketing: logo design, company branding, print marketing, social media marketing, brochureware, SEO, graphic design, photography, photo retouching, content design, UI design, and professional writing and copyediting. If you have a creative project you'd like help with, I'd love to hear from you!

Please note: When my daughter fell ill in 2018, I gave almost all of my website clients away. Since the actual websites are no longer under my control, I have removed most links as the live product likely no longer represents my work. Business names / logos have been changed where required by contract.

Copy Editing

February 2022 | The Empath Effect by Alicia McBride

Photography by Alicia McBride

This was a new opportunity for me! I had the pleasure of copy editing my first book - The Empath Effect, compiled by Alicia McBride. I worked with author, Alicia McBride, and her twenty-two hand selected authors to produce this collection of stories for empaths and sensitive people. This copy editing project involved editing the articles of both writers and non-writers, men and woman, across many different professions, with very different writing styles! The end result is an International Amazon Bestselling book. "The Empath Effect is a powerful tool for healing. If you're an empath or sensitive person, this book is a must-reed. Take the plunge and discover your empath effect" -- Review on Amazon.com. Visit Healing Light Empath for more info, or purchase directly on Amazon.com!

Photo Retouching

October 2021 | Addams Family Photoshoot

Photography: Alicia McBride

Having lost my daughter a year before to cancer, I wanted to do something fun to incorporate her and her memory into the fun fantasy photoshoots we do. Our last name is Adams, and while spelled differently, our group of friends are quirky enough to make an Addams Family photoshoot work. And Julia (my daughter) made an awfully cute Uncle Fester =) This is the largest shoot of this kind that we've done, with over a dozen models, adults and children. This final product (in addition to portraits for everyone) to at least 30 hours in Photoshop to create! I made use of a few stock textures to accomplish things like the booshelf and frame. Check out the before and after comparison! =)

Graphic Design - Large Format Banner

September 2021 | Julia Adams / U-neek Computer Services

Rights owner: U-neek

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (every September) and my daughter, Julia Adams, I designed a large-format banner for the company I work for: U-neek Computer Services. This is the largest print I've done with a finished size of roughly 10 feet wide by 3.5 feet high, and it came out ' beautifully, with the gold glitter looking like it sparkled in the sun (gold is the color for childhood cancer!)

I work at U-neek Computer Services and one of my jobs is keeping our front reception TV ads fresh! I update them regularly, usually seasonally-appropriately-decorated =) This is a heavy tech company, specializing in commercial and residential IT, web design, security, data integrity, network management, etc. so the designs are very tech heavy with a focus on security and information.

App UI Design & Layout

November 2020 | Yoga Anywhere

Designed for Apple and Android

Yoga Anywhere is a mobile phone UI design project. I worked closely with the app developer to customize the colors, graphics, icons, flow, and copy to fit their layout. This project included a full login section with class signup, member-to-member communication, regular events (highlighted with ever-changing banner ads), a live chat/support function, and three different studio locations. This app was downloadable for three years before the company was bought. (Since they have been purchased, I changed the logo and class details for contractual / privacy reasons.)

Photo Retouching - Halloween Fun

October 2020 | In Memory of Julia Adams

Photography by: Alicia McBride

Photo retouching - one of my favorite things to do! This was the first Halloween after my daughter, Julia Adams, passed, and we wanted to incorporate her into some photos and have fun with her cousins. I wrote up the photography plan, designed the set and shots, photos were taken by Alicia McBride, and then I used Photoshop to add all kinds of fun magic! The final album is a series of 20 photos that tell a magical story about Julia, her little brother, and her cousins. Such a fun event!

Graphic Design - Fundraising T-Shirts

February - June 2019 | Julia Adams Cancer Fund

Fundraising efforts for childhood cancer

An ongoing project very near and dear to my heart. These t-shirts were designed for fundraising efforts for my daughter, Julia Adams, who from 1-3 years old fought a very rare form of childhood cancer. Julia passed on March 15, 2020 and her entire story, with daily updates with videos and pictures can be found on her website: Julia Adams Cancer Fund. Thanks to an extremely loyal and dedicated following, our fundraising efforts were wildly successful and I have since gone on to create graphical fundraisers for other children fighting cancer.

Website, Blog, Social Media Campaign

November 2018 - March 2020 | Julia Adams

Responsive layout, website design, graphics, SEO, Social Media.

This was the most work I've ever put into a project ever. By a mile. It was far more important to me than anything else I've done. It was the story of my beautiful, brave daughter, Julia Adams, as she fought a very unfair fight against cancer. I designed a standalone website to coincide with nightly Facebook updates (all with pictures and videos). My daily blog posts would take hours to compile notes, write, edit, edit photos, edit pictures, post on all social media and websites (by a certain time in the evening when her following expected updates). This was easily a full time job - 365 days a year. I never missed a single update. All of those updates, from the very beginning through the very end, are here on her website: www.juliaadamscancerfund.org

Interface Design

June 2018 | Mushroom Pro: Elite Management Software

Interface design to work with existing webpage

Mushroom Pro is a product built by my parent company, 2nd Door Evolutions. This software is used to manage their mushroom picking operations, and includes all critical business data: employees, picking hours, rooms, shipping weights, time tracking, invoicing, billing, and support. I designed the flow and elements, as well as the static Mushroom Pro website that sits internally front-facing for our clients. Six months after launch, we launched a mobile version of the software that works much better with the scanners the pickers use in the fields. (Data details changed for privacy.)

Responsive layout & logo design.

A new website for the Housing Authority of the County of Chester in West Chester, replacing a 10-year old design we previously did. Project includes custom logo design and extensive photograph of developments by Alicia's Art, LLC. HACC was looking for a way to showcase their properties with beautiful photography and an easy-to-read layout; and highlight recent news and events. This project is a long-term ongoing with lots of back and forth communication with client.

December 2016 | Restorative Health Center

Responsive layout & logo design.

A new small website for a wellness center in Exton, Restorative Health Center (RHC). Dr. Elizabeth Carter specialized in womens health and chiropractic care. We designed a simple logo to be used on their new website, business cards, and marketing material. As for the website, they had none existing, and wanted to start with something simple and modern, with some staff and building photography (done by Alicia's Art, LLC). We created a place for their news/events and seasonal workshops.

November 2016 | 2nd Door Evolutions

Responsive layout & logo design.

This is an ongoing project for my other business - an IT company in Malvern PA, 2DE. Over the years we've done many designs, but the most recent is a simple, one-page site. We completely rebranded the company a few years ago, and with that came a new logo, new website, and completely new marketing material. Our new clients come 99% by referral, so the goal of the new website was more of a business-card information site, rather than an SEO heavy marketing site. We wanted all information quickly available at a glance.

December 2015 | Victorian Christmas Photoshoot

Photography: Alicia's Art, LLC

This photo opportunity kind of came up out of nowhere. We were having friends over and we were in the Christmas spririt so we quickly moved deocrations around to make a scene and whipped out some old costumes. This beautiful shot stars Alicia, Alyssa, myself, Dave, Kris Matt, Reed, Stephen and Baby Aiden! Photography, as usual, by Alicia's Art, LLC. Hover your mouse on and off of the photo to compare the before/after pictures. The lines in the before-shot indicate the different images used to compose the final image (we took about 200 shots and picked the best pose for each person!).

December 2015 | West Goshen Cleaning Services

Responsive layout & Business Card

West Goshen Cleaning Services is a local, small business focused on providing a wide range of cleaning services to both residential and industrial clients. WGCS was rebranding their image, and needed a fresh logo, with a new website and business cards to match. They wanted the website to act as a larger business card, as their primary form of marketing would be hanging out their material at expos and meetings. This was a simplistic website with a quick turn around time!

November 2015 | Domers Construction

Responsive layout & Photography

Domers Construction is a long standing client, and we've done several redesigns of their website over the years to stay current. The most recent was to meet their new goal of simplicity: they wanted to move from a bulky website with tons of sub-pages, to a simple, single page scrolling layout. Their new focus was on displaying their portfolio, with beautiful photography by Alicia's Art, LLC. We gave them a modern layout with a beautiful, responsive gallery. This ongoing project continues to include photography, email blasts, and marketing/tradeshow material. (Website currently under different ownership.)

November 2015 | Carydale Enterprises

Responsive layout & Photography.

This project was a redesign of a very outdated website for a large apartment company in Virginia, Carydale Enterprises. They wanted to showcase their units, so extensive indoor/outdoor architectural photography was done by Studio Mooch and Alicia's Art, LLC (with lots of retouching due to it storming on both of our shooting days!). Our focus was beautiful apartment pages with tons of great photos displayed with a modern gallery, easy-to-read information and redesigned floorplans. (Website currently under different ownership.)

October 2015 | Tim Burton Photoshoot

Photography: Alicia's Art, LLC

This was something that happened last minute, without much planning. We wanted to do something in the spirit of Halloween that was reminiscent of Tim Burton's A Nightmare Before Christmas. (This wasn't in any way for work - just a hobby!) Alicia was our beautiful model, and we quickly setup a sketchy photo studio in her kitchen and found a semi-acceptable outfit. We weren't quite sure how the finished product would turn out, but we're super happy with it! Check out the before and after comparison!

A shiny new look for one of my oldest clients: Ridgewood Apartments in West Chester, PA. Their beautiful new website, built in simple HTML5 and CSS3, features a very modern layout that is completely responsive and mobile friendly. Included in this new-look project was updating their online presence all over the web with current photos, information and links back to their website. A matching social media presence is forthcoming in 2016. All new photography of the exterior and spacious apartments by Alicia's Art, LLC.

Business Marketing

May 2015 | Domer's Construction

New postcard, pamphlet redesign and photo printouts for marketing event. Photography by Alicia's Art, LLC.

A few items from a quick turn-around time marketing project for Domer's Construction. They had a booth at a triathlon and were looked for some printed material to beef up the stand. I did a redesign of their old pamphlet with new wording, new photos and an updated look along with a postcard marketed toward the competing athletes. We also picked out a few of the best portfolio items and had them printed in a large format with a solid foamcore backing so they were free standing on the desk.

April 2015 | Chester Education Foundation

Responsive layout & new design.

Chester Education Foundation (CEF) is a not-for-profit organization that supports education and community in the Chester, PA area. I've designed many versions of their website over the years (to their very specific color / style specifications). Our most recent one had the goal of being "colorful and inviting". I added a few extra items such as a custom translation into several languages with a simple toggle between. With the help of a programmer, we custom designed a database for their community and resources - I design the layout and flow and gave all elements to the programmer to implement. Our ongoing projects include marketing material, maintenance of a database/admin interface, and their annual summar programs calendar. (Website no longer active.)

March 2015 | Alicia's Art, LLC

New website layout for my photography partner, Alicia's Art.

Alicia's Art has been my go-to source for professional photography for many years. I've managed her website for over five years and it was time for a new look. I designed a dual-column layout to showcase the two-face of her business: architectural and portrait photography. Each page showcases many beautiful example photos in consistent, but unique layouts so as to best display the specific information. I implemented a basic, super-easy-to-use user interface that allowed Alicia to upload her own photos and adjust how they were displayed on the page. Along with website design, we designed several gift certificate templates for the business. (Website no longer active - Alicia moved on to a different endeavor.)

December 2014 | Limelight Recognition LLC

Holiday Facebook campaign with photography, retouching and graphic design.

Across the month of December, I did a series of Facebook posts highlighting the wide variety of personalize-able holiday merchandise LimeLight Recognition has for sale. This project consistent of a ton of staged photography, photo retouching, and graphic design for the unique banners and adds. Many of the engraving examples were put on in post-production. I created several Facebook galleries of merchandise categories. While I was in there, I also updated their Facebook presence with a crisp logo and a new cover photo of the business.

Event Printed Material

October 2014 | Amy & Reed Wedding

Design and printing of wedding material: engagement announcement, menu, program, etc.

I did all the marketing for Amy & Reed's fall wedding. Items include a printed engagement magnet (photo by Alicia's Art), the menu, program, and signs for the ceremony and reception, and a follow-up thank you card with photography from their wedding. The design was 100% custom to the theme of the event, and I came up with the program cover concept to tell the story of their relationship in a series of icons, from how they met, through their most memorable events, to finally the proposal (guests had a fun time trying to recognize all the events!)

Simple porfolio for a local freelance photographer.

Lisa was looking for a very simple website that showed off her photos in an elegant, straightforward fashion, with info and a contact method right there - an online business card portfolio. I desiged a wolf-themed logo to match her primary subjects, and designed a beautiful dark theme to match. A customized gallery template displays her photos in a viewer-friendly way and she is able to update it on her own. 2013 - 2018 | Valence Guild

Several website designs over the years for a computer game community

These are past and present designs for an online gaming group Valence Guild. Over the years, the look has evolved to keep in theme with the most current release of the game. So far I've done five different iterations of the site, all with a completely new look. Very-active online forums and communities, seemlessly worked into the website, have always been part of the project, and recently we've expanded into a social media presence. April 2013 | Jenny & Franks Artisan Gelato

Website design & online store setup for a local gelato company.

One of my favorite projects! Who doesn't love gelato? This was a website design project for Jenny & Franks Artisan Gelato - we wanted to really show off their Italian background and highlight their weekly flavors right on the Home page. We setup a virtual store and website form for ordering gelato pints and custom cakes online. Tons of custom art was created such as flavor planks, gelato cartons, banner adds, and custom icons. I work closely with Jenny & Franks weekly to do page updates to keep everything fresh and informative. (Website no longer active.)

Custom website design with beautiful photography by Alicia's Art, LLC. This project was for a small, local brewery in Phoenixville. They specialize in apple cyser and other unique alcoholic beverages. I designed a rustic website in HTML and CSS with a strong focus on the agave plant with a hexagonal. Custom photos of their charming brewery completed the look perfectly. I re-designed and re-colored their logo and also designed the label for their cyser using an illustrated 'easy eve' model they had designed by a local artist. As of 2016, this website is no longer in use at the original URL.

The first of our Halloween photoshoots. We had little expectations going into this - just some cheap costumes and a really beautiful setting (Ridley Creek State Park). We planned to go on a Sunday, expecting it to be slow, but ~just our luck~ it was the 40th anniversary so it was PACKED! Everyone took it in stride, and we were asked for lots of pictures. I have their business hours and holidays update automatically throughout the year, so their website is always current and accurate. I've also done custom holiday banners, gift certificate sales announcements, and special menus for the website.
